SUMMER CAMP
“The Salvation Army has been providing summer camps for more than 100 years and really values what this experience can bring to children,” says Ed Covert, camp director for the Salvation Army’s Camp Arnold in Eatonville, Wash. “Summer camp opens a whole new world, but parents need to recognize that along with the excitement, children may also be anxious about departing from the familiarity of their daily lives.”youth2

The cost of a week at camp is $270 per child. Since many of our target  population can only provide a match of $25 or less, there is a great need to raise scholarship funds. For some, the summer camp is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy the untamed outdoors and nature at its most beautiful. Summer Camps provide and promote self-sufficiency, teaches responsibility and helps children learn respect for others.

Join the “KIDS TO CAMP” 5(k) Run/Walk to be held in May 2011.  All proceeds will benefit the Camp Progam.  Registeration fee is $30.00 for pre-registration, $15.00 kids 10 and under. Pre-registration day of race: 7:30 a.m. Entry fee includes t-shirt, prize drawing, overall & age-group awards.  Day includes: race, refreshements, aid stations and brunch at awards ceremony at 10:30 AM.  Call Cindy (801) 621-3580.
